Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik will play with the Hobart Hurricanes in this summer’s Twenty20 Big Bash League.
Malik played 32 Tests, 216 one-day internationals and 53 T20s for Pakistan, captaining the side at the 2007 World Cup.
The 31-year-old finished as leading runscorer at the inaugural Caribbean Premier league in August, amassing 272 runs in eight games.
“His performances in the Caribbean Premier League suggest he’s in red-hot form right now,” Hurricanes coach Damien Wright said in a statement.
“He’s an exciting player, a fast-paced batsman who will likely bat in our middle order and he’ll add another option to our bowling stocks as well.”
The Hurricanes open their Big Bash campaign against the Adelaide Strikers at Bellerive Oval on December 22.
