Australia’s Ben Hilfenhaus claimed two wickets as the WICB President’s XI reached 2-42 at tea on day two of the tour match in Barbados.
Hilfenhaus removed opener Kieran Powell (0) and Nkrumah Bonner (2) to leave the hosts 2-10 in their second innings.
But opener Devon Smith (14) and Kyle Corbin (17) recovered to take the WICB President’s XI to tea with a 29-run second innings lead.
The hosts had earlier restricted Australia to 9(dec)-214 with Peter Forrest the only batsman to pass 50 for the tourists, making an unbeaten 53 before the innings ended.
Resuming on 2-81, Australia made a quick start before Michael Clarke (30) fell slashing at a wide delivery by Kevin McClean (1-27).
Ricky Ponting (13) fell shortly after and Peter Nevill (25) was dismissed on the stroke of lunch as Australia reached the break 5-162.
Spin bowlers Nkrumah Bonner (3-43) and Ryan Austin (3-43) then worked their way through the tail before Clarke declared shortly after Forrest had reached his half-century with the third six of his innings.
