Shane Warne has had a grandstand named in his honour at The Rose Bowl in Southampton, the home of his former county club Hampshire.

The champion leg spinner, who enjoyed several successful seasons as Hampshire captain said it was an honour.

“It’s a huge moment,” Warne said.

“I’m very, very proud of this – Hampshire’s been my second home, I had a great time when I played here and to have a stand named after me is pretty special.”

The grandstand bearing Warne’s name was unveiled before the start of the first one day international between England and the West Indies.
