Fekete bags three Bulls wickets in Hobart

Queensland went past Tasmania’s first-innings total but paceman Andrew Fekete thwarted their progress early on day two of their Sheffield Shield match at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

The right-arm quick took three wickets during Tuesday’s rain-interrupted first session as the visitors, resuming at 2-135, got to lunch at 6-178.

Queensland surpassed the home side’s 149 but their batsmen couldn’t dig in.

Rain has interrupted play at Bellerive three times through the first session and drizzle is expected to continue.

Chris Lynn (seven) was the first to fall on Tuesday, bowled by Fekete (3-39) in the fifth over of the day.

In his next over Fekete had Michael Phillipson (0) plumb lbw.

Wicketkeeper Chris Hartley (eight) then came to the crease, striking two quick boundaries before also being trapped lbw by Fekete.

Simon Milenko (10) faced a similar fate, arriving at the wicket to strike a couple of well-placed fours before being caught behind to a Jackson Bird (2-44) delivery.

Opener Charlie Hemphrey (58 not out) remains unbeaten and brought up a steady half century with a boundary off 153 balls.

He will resume after lunch along with skipper James Hopes (7 not out).
