Allrounder Stuart Broad scored an aggressive unbeaten half century to help England to a lead of 70 runs on day three of the second Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.

Broad hit six fours and a six in his undefeated 58 off 62 balls as England’s first innings ended on 327 in reply to Pakistan’s 257.

Broad ran out of partners when offspinner Mohammad Hafeez took the last two wickets in the first over after lunch, giving him three scalps for the innings.

Saeed Ajmal was the top wicket-taker with 4-108 and left arm spinner Abdur Rehman claimed 2-67.

Alastair Cook (94) and Jonathan Trott (74) were the main contributors for the tourists.
