England 5-221 as 3rd Test heads for draw

England reached 5-221 at stumps on day four of the third Test at Edgbaston, trailing West Indies by 205 runs and chasing a total of 277 to avoid the follow on.

England slumped to 3-49 on Sunday until Kevin Pietersen hit 78 – including one six and 11 fours – and Ian Bell made 76 not out.

Tino Best took 2-37 after impressing with the bat earlier when West Indies posted a first innings of 426.

Best hit 95 – a Test record for a No.11 batsman – and Denesh Ramdin made 107 not out.

Heavy rain is forecast for Monday and a draw seems probable with no play on the first two days.
