Cricket Australia to reform player codes

Cricket Australia will reform its code of behaviour and integrity processes after a review by former AFL policy-maker Adrian Anderson.

Anderson, the ex-AFL football operations manager, was hired by Cricket Australia (CA) to review how the sport dealt with issues such as player discipline and anti-corruption.

Several recommendations for reform were broadly outlined by CA chief James Sutherland on Thursday.

He said Anderson recommended CA make structural and procedural changes to the code of behaviour, and also the structure of cricket’s integrity functions.

Sutherland didn’t detail specifics as Anderson’s recommendations were being considered by CA management, with the aim of implementing reforms in time for Australia’s next domestic season.

“Adrian Anderson has tabled a comprehensive, detailed report which we now need to absorb, understand and assess,” Sutherland said in a statement.

“The (CA) board has asked management to assess the report’s detail and to provide it with implementation recommendations in time for its next meeting in August.”
