Clark retires from first-class cricket

Former Test paceman Stuart Clark has announced his retirement from first-class cricket.

The 36-year-old last played a first-class game for NSW against Victoria in Melbourne in February last year but has remained a part of the Blues squad this summer as injury cover.

Clark’s last appearances for NSW were four Champions League Twenty20 matches in October.

The right-arm quick played 24 Tests for Australia, taking 94 wickets at 23.86 including 20 wickets in his first series against South Africa.

Clark will concentrate on his off-field role as the general manager of the Sydney Sixers, who claimed the inaugural T20 Big Bash League title in February.

“It has been an absolute honour and privilege to be involved with both the Australian and New South Wales cricket teams,” Clark said.

“I have had a wonderful time in the game and take with me some great memories. The time is now right to step away from the playing side and concentrate on my efforts with the Sydney Sixers.”
