Queensland have been dismissed for 256 to hold a 72-run first innings lead in their Sheffield Shield match against NSW at Allan Border Field.
Test hopeful Mitchell Starc helped to quickly clean up the Bulls tail with two wickets in three balls as the home side lost their last four batsmen for 12 runs to concede a major advantage.
Until then, left-armer Starc had gone more than 11 overs without success but hooped the second new ball around under cloudy skies to clean bowl both Cameron Gannon and Alister McDermott.
Trent Copeland was the pick of the Blues bowlers with 2-42 from 21.5 overs while spinner Steve O’Keefe took 2-31, Doug Bollinger 2-58 and Josh Hazlewood 2-72.
Joe Burns top-scored for Queensland with 64 in a pivotal 110-run stand with Usman Khawaja (54) while skipper Chris Hartley also notched a half-century.
Hartley (54) and Nathan Reardon (42) combined for a 89-run partnership which took the Bulls to first-innings points after the innings was teetering at 5-132.
