Queensland need 222 runs from 47 overs to defeat South Australia on Friday’s final day of the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.
The Redbacks were bowled out for 225 in their second innings, with allrounder Dan Christian top-scoring with 71.
Christian was one of three needless run outs, while paceman Ben Cutting and spinner Nathan Hauritz each claimed two wickets for the Bulls, who have already banked first innings points.
Christian was in fine form but suffered from a frequent loss of partners.
After Travis Head (four) was stumped in the opening over on Friday, Callum Ferguson ran himself out for 18.
Ferguson prodded to midwicket and foolishly set off for a single before being rightfully sent back by Christian.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Ludeman (25), Johan Botha (11) and Nathan Lyon (10) all failed to offer substantial to support to Christian.
Lyon was run out in a mix up with Christian, who in turn was run out in a mishap with No.10 Daniel Worrall.
