Bulls coach fined for dissent

The taste of victory was soured somewhat for Queensland coach Darren Lehmann after he was fined $2000 for dissent following the Bulls’ Sheffield Shield final win over Tasmania at the Gabba on Monday.

Lehmann attended a Cricket Australia conduct commission hearing after the Bulls sealed a tense three-wicket win over the Tigers.

The former Test batsman appeared after confronting the umpires when bad light controversially forced an early end to day three action on Sunday.

Lehmann pleaded guilty to an offence under rule five relating to “laws of cricket and the spirit of the game” and was fined by code of conduct commissioner Kevin Kelso.

“The incident occurred between the boundary line and players’ race and both umpires considered Lehmann’s actions and language contrary to the spirit of the game”, a Cricket Australia statement said.
