Ben Cutting smashed a half-century to deliver Queensland first innings points against South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.
Cutting cracked four sixes in making 62 as the Bulls banked innings points 25 minutes after tea on Thursday’s third day of play.
The Bulls declared at 9-406 immediately after passing SA’s 9(dec)-402.
Queensland opener Wade Townsend top-scored with 129 and Joe Burns compiled 116, while Redbacks allrounder Dan Christian took four wickets.
But it was Cutting’s late heroics which gifted the Bulls the points, the Queenslander facing just 48 balls.
Cutting’s whirlwind knock came after SA appeared set to claim their first Shield points in more than a year when the Bulls slipped to 8-339.
But Cutting then tore into the Redbacks bowlers, reaching his half-century from only 42 balls, and combining with Cameron Boyce (18 not out) for a 63 run partnership for the ninth wicket.
Cutting was dismissed with the scores level, but No.11 Luke Feldman cover drove a four to seal the two points.
Christian took 4-81 while Test offspinner Nathan Lyon claimed 2-131 from 24 overs.
