Australia has been installed as a $5 favourite to win the 2015 cricket World Cup following the announcement that the final will be played in Melbourne at the MCG.
“Playing in front of massive home crowds will be a huge advantage for the Aussies and if they manage to make the final at the “G” they will be a very short priced favourite,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.
Australia will co-host the World Cup with New Zealand with the final to be played at the MCG on March 29 2015.
“Australia is struggling in the Ashes at the moment but traditionally they perform very well in one-day cricket and we think they have drawn the easier group so they deserve to be favourite,” Felgate said.
Australia is in Group A with Ashes rivals England $5.50, Sri Lanka $8 and co-hosts New Zealand $17. Group B contains South Africa $5.50, India $5.50, Pakistan $8 and West Indies $8.
