Australia favourite for 2012 Twenty20 World Cup

With the Twenty20 World Cup semi finals just around the corner, Australia have emerged as the team to beat, firming from $7.00 to $3.25 with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au to go all the way and win the tournament.

Sri Lanka are next in the market and have also firmed from $6.00 to $4.00, while early favourites India have drifted from $5.50 to $6.00.

“There wasn’t a lot of interest in the Aussies before the tournament but they have looked impressive and punters have begun to get on board. There has actually been more money for Sri Lanka and the West Indies, but the Aussies continue to be well backed as they progress further into the tournament,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

Shane Watson’s form with the bat has been noticed by punters, with the opener firming from $17 to $1.62 to be the tournament’s leading run scorer, while Australia are $1.65 favourites to win their next game against Pakistan ($2.20).
