Australia choose to bowl against Pakistan

Australia have invited Pakistan to bat first in Tuesday night’s crucial World Twenty20 Super Eights clash at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium.

Australia have won their first two Super Eights games but are yet to qualify for this week’s semi-finals and will be keen to put that issue to bed with a victory against Pakistan.

Australia named an unchanged side with two frontline spinners, Xavier Doherty and Brad Hogg, to complement pace trio Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Shane Watson.

The match is set to start under sunny skies with a top of 29 forecast although thundery showers are also predicted.

Teams:

Australia: George Bailey (capt), Shane Watson, David Warner, Mike Hussey, Cameron White, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Wade, Pat Cummins, Brad Hogg, Mitchell Starc, Xavier Doherty, Dan Christian (12th man).

Pakistan: Mohammad Hafeez (capt), Abdul Razzaq, Imran Nazir, Kamran Akmal, Nasir Jamshed, Raza Hasan, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Umar Gul, Asad Shafiq (12th man).
