Australia appoint Law to coaching role

Stuart Law, who quit this week as Bangladesh coach, has been appointed to a high-performance role at Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence.

Law, who played one Test and 54 one-day internationals for Australia, will return to his home city of Brisbane.

The Queenslander will assist Centre of Excellence (COE) head coach Troy Cooley in providing tactical and technical support and development to Australian cricketers in the state and national programs.

His starting date is expected to be in July.

Law, 43, has completed less than one year of a two-year contract with Bangladesh after serving as Sri Lanka’s interim coach.

“The opportunity to return home to be closer with family and work in Brisbane with Australia’s established and emerging talent was too good to pass up,” Law said on Tuesday.

“As a member of the first intake of the former Cricket Academy, I’m a passionate believer in the COE and look forward to working with Pat Howard, Belinda Clark, Troy Cooley and the rest of the high-performance team, as well as the state and territory associations, to deliver programs that will develop and prepare players for the challenge of achieving sustained international success.”
