Australia have set the West Indies a victory target of 282 in the fifth and final one-day international in St Lucia.
Needing a victory to level the series 2-2, Australia made 9-281 off their 50 overs with David Warner top-scoring with 69.
Warner’s opening partner Shane Watson (66) and Peter Forrest (53) also made half-centuries in Australia’s biggest total of the series.
The competitive score was created by Australia’s top order firing for the first time in the series.
Watson and Warner shared a run-a-ball 118 run stand for the first wicket before Forrest continued their good work with a patient knock.
Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade then provided some late fireworks, blitzing 26 off 17 balls including two sixes.
Wade’s innings was the tonic Australia needed after trying Brett Lee as a pinch-hitter following George Bailey’s dismissal for 19 midway through the innings.
Lee, who made a career-best 59 in Friday’s 42-run loss to the Windies, could only manage 12 before falling shortly after a 40-minute rain delay.
Andre Russell was dynamic in the field for the hosts and picked up 4-61 off nine overs.
Kemar Roach (3-53) and Sunil Narine (2-55) were the other wicket-takers for the Windies, who are chasing their first one-day series win over Australia since 1995.
