Australia set the West Indies a victory target of 215 off a minimum of 61 overs in the rain-marred second Test in Trinidad.
Skipper Michael Clarke declared Australia’s second innings closed at 8-160 when Nathan Lyon (3) was dismissed a half-hour after the lunch break on the final day.
Kemar Roach had earlier claimed the first 10-wicket haul by a West Indian for seven years with the double dismissal of Michael Hussey and Ben Hilfenhaus after lunch.
Roach finished with 5-41 to go with his 5-105, the first time a Windies bowler had taken 10 in a Test since Corey Collymore in 2005.
The diminutive quick, who claimed the three wickets Australia lost on a rain-shortened day four, removed Hilfenhaus (0) just three balls after bowling Michael Hussey for 24 when the Aussie veteran inside-edged a delivering back onto his stumps.
Earlier, Australia added just 50 runs for the fall of two wickets in a 25-over first session on Thursday, with Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke the men out.
Ponting (41) fell hooking Fidel Edwards (1-28) straight down Kieran Powell’s throat at square leg.
The wicket was Edwards’ first of the match after beating the edge of the bat several times in both innings.
Windies skipper Darren Sammy (1-17) then chipped in with a sharp reaction catch off his own bowling to remove Clarke for 15 and leave Australia 5-95.
Australia lead the three Test series 1-0.
