Aussies chasing 151 for win in T20

Australia will need 151 for victory after restricting the West Indies to 7-150 in the first Twenty20 international in St Lucia on Tuesday.

The West Indies struggled to get any momentum in their innings with Kieron Pollard the only batsman to really trouble Australia’s bowlers, scoring an unbeaten 54 off 26 balls.

Pollard’s 50 came off just 20 balls and is the fastest half-century in T20 cricket by a West Indies player.

The giant allrounder, who scored a match-winning 102 at the Beausejour Stadium in last Friday’s one-day international, belted five sixes in his knock including two off two balls in Xavier Doherty’s third over.

Australia’s bowling was led by Shane Watson, who conceded just 16 off his four overs, while Dan Christian took 3-27 to be the top wicket-taker in the innings.

Nkrumah Bonner (24 off 33) and Johnson Charles (24 off 16) were the only other West Indian batsmen to pass 20 in the innings.

Brett Lee took 2-30 off his four overs while young quick James Pattinson finished with 0-21 off three overs in his first game in the Caribbean for Australia.
