WBC bans brawling Chisora indefinitely

The WBC has suspended British boxer Dereck Chisora indefinitely following his brawl with former WBA champion David Haye after a title fight against Vitali Klitschko in Germany.

The WBC said on Tuesday in a statement that it was also giving Chisora a “serious fine,” but that the amount would be determined after a hearing.

The body said Chisora would be taken off the WBC rankings and banned from fighting for its title. The statement added that the WBC was demanding Chisora was treated for anger management, “after which his suspension will be reconsidered.”

Chisora and Haye started brawling at the British boxer’s news conference following his loss to Klitschko in the February 18 bout for the WBC heavyweight title.

The WBC said Chisora’s misconduct “is considered one of the worst behaviours ever by a professional boxer.”
