Former WBO Welterweight Champion Jeff Horn will fight veteran Anthony Mundine at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadiumon Friday night, in a twelve-round bout that has been dubbed ‘River City Rumble’.

Horn enters this fight off the back of his first-ever professional loss; a ninth-round TKO at the hands of arguably the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter, Terence Crawford.

For forty-three-year-old Mundine, it’s all about stamping his claims as Australia’s best-ever middleweight by winding back the clock and beating Horn, in what looms as his final ever professional fight.

Unsurprisingly, Horn has opened and remains the clear $1.22 favourite to defeat Mundine ($4.50).

The Hornet has enjoyed an impressive rise to prominence since turning pro in 2013 and boasts a record of eighteen wins (12 via KO), one draw and one loss.

Having successfully worked through the grades locally and then internationally, Horn’s biggest win to date came in July 2017 when he defeated the legendary Manny Pacquiao for the Filipino’s WBO Welterweight title at Suncorp Stadium. He subsequently defeated England’s Gary Corcoran, before dropping the belt to Crawford in June this year, in Las Vegas.

Horn’s remarkable strength has ultimately been key to his success so far and he is widely known as one of the hardest hitters in the business. Should he manage to land a few big punches in the first couple of rounds, it could be an early night for both camps and the Brisbane faithful.

The Man has produced plenty of outstanding performances and results throughout a busy career that has spanned more than eighteen years and fifty-six fights. His record stands at forty-eight wins (28 via TKO) and eight losses.

Mundine has continually defied the critics during his career and love him or hate him, there is no denying that he has been one of Australia’s best-ever fighters. He is a two-time WBA Super-Middleweight world champion and has also held the IBO Middleweight title. His speed and conditioning have always been his biggest strengths and if he can frustrate Horn in the early stages of this fight, he will be a live chance of pushing the thirty-year-old the whole way.

There is no doubt that Mundine has lost some of his spark in recent years, however and he has lost three of his five most-recent bouts, including 2017’s rematch with Danny Green at the Adelaide Oval.

There is no value left for Horn in head-to-head betting and ultimately, he should be justifying his short quote with a relatively easy win over Mundine. Once upon a time this would have been an outstanding fight, but the class difference between the two fighters in 2018 is massive.

There is plenty of value to be found further into the betting and backing Horn to win via KO or TKO is well and truly worth consideration at $2.15.

Horn is widely expected to end the fight reasonably early and there is plenty of value in Round betting, particularly Round 4 ($19), Round 5 ($18) and Round 6 ($15).
