Boomers’ odds shorten to win Men’s Basketball World Cup 2019

AUSTRALIA are now one game away from reaching Sunday night’s final of the 2019 Men’s Basketball World Cup in China, but they are $2.40 outsiders at TAB to defeat Spain ($1.58) in their semi-final being played at the Wukesong Sport Arena in Beijing tomorrow night (tip-off 6pm AEST).

The Boomers and Spain contested a highly controversial clash that determined third place at the 2016 Rio Games, which the Spaniards won 89-88 after a late foul was awarded to the eventual victors that infuriated the Aussies.

Last night’s victory over the Czech Republic ensured the Boomers will contest their first semi-final at a Men’s Basketball World Cup having reached the same stage on four occasions at The Games.

However, the Aussies will be desperate to leave China with a medal after finishing fourth at The Games in 1988, 1996, 2000 and 2016.

A few TAB punters are hoping that the Boomers can win the final of the 2019 Men’s Basketball World Cup, including one customer who placed bets of $250 at $81 and $300 at $51 in early April for a potential collect of $35,550.

After the Boomers’ two-game series against the United States of America at Marvel Stadium, a TAB punter on September 1 placed a $500 wager at $34 on Australia, which could result in a $11,900 windfall.
