The Best of the Day preview breaks down LA Dodgers’ bid to stitch up their seventh MLB title – and Tampa Ray Bays’ attempt to send the World Series into a Game 7 decider.

The rivals have gone blow for blow throughout a fascinating rubber to date.

The Dodgers opened up with an 8-3 victory in Game 1. Mookie Betts and Cody Bellinger starred with the bat, while Clayton Kershaw had a huge game on the mound.

But the Rays responded with a 6-4 win in Game 2. Brandon Lowe (2 runs, 3 RBI) and Joey Wendle (3 RBI) came up with the underdogs’ big plays.

The Dodgers took a two games to one lead with a comfortable 6-2 success, opening up a five-run lead in the fourth inning. But the Rays levelled up again in a wild 8-7 result in Game 4.

Tampa Bay were down by one with just one out remaining in the bottom of the ninth. But Brett Phillips’ first post-season career scoring hit – and a staggering Dodgers throwing error – saw the Rays grab the required two runs.

LA Dodgers bounced back from that missed opportunity, however, getting off to a flyer in Game 5 and winning 4-2. Max Muncy and Joc Pederson slammed home runs, while Kershaw kept the Rays batters largely under wraps for almost six innings.

Blake Snell (Rays) and Tony Gonsolin (Dodgers) are set to be the starting pitchers in Game 6. That represents a handy advantage for Tampa Bay – Snell is a proven big-game performer and dominated Game 2.

The Rays can take confidence from winning 18 of their last 22 after a loss. The Dodgers are 45-17 in their last 62 after a rest day.

Eight of the last 11 World Series – and the last four straight – to go as far as six games also went to seven, meaning the team down 3-2 produced a clutch Game 6 win. With Snell on the mound, the Best of the Day underdogs look a great bet.
