Sydney defeat Melbourne in ABL clash

The Sydney Blue Sox have defeated the Melbourne Aces 6-2 in game three of the ABL post-season round-two series at Melbourne Showgrounds on Friday night.

The Blue Sox now lead the best-of-five series 2-1 and are just one win away from a trip to Perth for the championship series.

Game four against the Aces will be played on Sunday afternoon and game five, if necessary, will take place half an hour after that.

The visiting Blue Sox dominated throughout, led by an excellent outing by starting pitcher Brad Thomas.

Thomas allowed just five men to reach base over seven innings, surrendering one run and striking out six.

Mitch Dening was the hitting star for the Blue Sox, smashing two home runs and driving in four. Justin Huber continued his torrid post-season hitting for the Aces, connecting for two more hits, including a home run.
