Ziebell aims to play in AFL opener

North Melbourne vice-captain Jack Ziebell is confident he will be ready for round one of the AFL season despite his concussion.

The star midfielder was knocked out during last Saturday’s pre-season game against Richmond at Etihad Stadium.

Ziebell had to be stretchered off after an accidental collision with Tigers defender Alex Rance.

“I’m feeling really good … it’s nice to be back out at training,” he said on Tuesday.

“It (the concussion) wasn’t ideal timing, but I’ve bounced back really well.

“I felt pretty good as well after the weekend.”

The Kangaroos start their season the Sunday after next, against the Crows at Adelaide Oval.

Ziebell did not train on Tuesday, but said he was improving every day.

“The sensible approach … is making sure that I do everything I can to be right for round one.

“I’m really looking forward to that.”
