Young Sun, premiership Tiger offered bans

Gold Coast youngster Jack Bowes has joined Richmond’s Josh Caddy in being offered a one-game suspension for incidents in round two of the AFL season.

Bowes was charged with engaging in rough conduct against Carlton’s Jacob Weitering during the third quarter of Saturday’s clash at Etihad Stadium.

Weitering was fighting for position in a marking contest with a Suns defender when Bowes left his feet and laid a high, front-on bump on the Blue.

The incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.

Caddy was charged with striking Adelaide’s David Mackay during the Crows’ grand final rematch win at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night.

The forward attempted to spoil Mackay’s marking attempt but made contact with a swinging arm to the Crow’s head.

Mackay left the field after the fourth-quarter incident with a concussion and did not return.

Tigers ruckman Toby Nankervis and Adelaide youngster Darcy Fogarty were offered fines for their respective misdemeanours.

Bowes and Caddy have until 11am on Tuesday not notify the AFL if they intend to take their cases to the tribunal.

The pair are the only players to be offered bans with eight games completed for the round.

Greater Western Sydney’s Phil Davis and Rory Lobb, Collingwood’s Lynden Dunn, Melbourne’s Jordan Lewis, Brisbane pair Dayne Zorko and Nick Robertson and West Coast’s Jamie Cripps can all accept fines.
