Collingwood have recruited a second free agent with premiership-winning experience, with wingman Clinton Young joining the Magpies from Hawthorn.
Young, 26, played 116 games for the Hawks and was a member of the 2008 flag-winning team and the lineup which lost the 2012 decider to Sydney.
Hawthorn tabled a new contract for Young, but he chose to accept a three-year deal from Collingwood.
“Clinton and his family were a big part of the club and it’s disappointing he has chosen to leave,” coach Alastair Clarkson said on Friday.
“While it’s disappointing to lose a member of our 2012 grand final team, and a long-time contributor to our club, player movement is a reality in the free agency market.”
The Magpies also picked up West Coast ruck-forward Quinten Lynch earlier in the free trade period.
Lynch played in the Eagles’ most recent premiership team in 2006.
Young and Lynch fill the holes left by Sharrod Wellingham and Chris Dawes, who have left Collingwood to join West Coast and Melbourne respectively.
