Wines elevated to Port leadership group

At the age of 20, Ollie Wines has been added to the leadership group of AFL club Port Adelaide.

Wines’ ascension and the promotion of ruckman Matthew Lobbe to a role as joint vice-captain were announced by the Power on Wednesday.

Travis Boak will again lead Port, with Lobbe and Brad Ebert his deputies.

Defenders Jackson Trengove and Tom Jonas and midfielder Hamish Hartlett are other members of the leadership group.

Wines has played just seasons of AFL football.

“Ollie is a good addition to the group with his will to improve both his game and that of the whole team,” Boak said in a statement on Wednesday.

The leadership group was selected by Port’s playing squad and coaches.
