We’re set for a good one under the roof at Marvel on Saturday with both sides on the bounce-back path.

The Dogs saw their winning streak snapped at five with a narrow loss to the Suns up in Darwin, while the Cats suffered a rare home loss to the visiting Giants – one that has cast further doubt over Geelong’s chances of defending the cup.

As we often say, the Dogs were their own worst enemy kicking 11 goals and 11 behinds, and although they’ve tightened up defensively, the Bulldogs have to find a way to make the most of their potent forward line.

For Geelong, it’s more a case of star power missing. The Cats are still short on Cam Guthrie, Max Holmes, Mitch Duncan, Rhys Stanley, and Sam De Koning – all key names from their Premiership run a year ago.

Chris Scott has made some questionable decisions with his personnel, but at the same time, the Cats are clearly lacking their usual run through the midfield.

Looking back, the Cats have won four in a row over the Dogs, but it’s worth noting only one of those wins have come by more than 15 points.

Adam Treloar is a big inclusion for the Doggies, and although they are a frustrating team in front of goal, they remain one of the best clearance teams in the competition.

If they can win the contested footy and find the middle of the posts, the Dogs look a good outright bet at value.
