West Coast welcome back stars for Hawks

West Coast will welcome back four stars as the one-time premiership favourites look to get their disappointing 2013 season back on track against the ladder-leading Hawthorn on Friday night.

Captain Darren Glass (hip), star forwards Mark LeCras (arm) and Josh Kennedy (calf) and defender Beau Waters (quad) have all passed fitness tests to be set to line-up against Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium with the Eagles needing to start stringing some wins together.

The Eagles currently sit in ninth position with a 6-5 record in what has been a disappointing start to a season that they entered with such great expectations.

Things are yet to click and now there’s the massive challenge of heading to Melbourne to take on a Hawthorn team that has won 10 matches on the trot, but Worsfold is especially glad to have Waters and LeCras back with Glass and Kennedy always likely to return after minor complaints.

“He’s (Waters) super fit. And that was the idea of him having an extended period, to build him up again. We’ve followed that plan very strictly and we’ve done our best to safe guard him against further injury,” Worsfold said.

“I think coming back as quickly as he (LeCras) did meant that it’s (his arm) just jarring every week so it’s just going to take a lot longer to heal than if you had it in a plaster cast for six weeks.

“It’s just still a bit sore, or it was a bit sore, so we decided to give him two weeks with no jarring at all and that’s certainly made a good difference.”

Worsfold is also sticking firm to not discussing his future at West Coast with his contract up come season’s end, but he certainly isn’t showing any interest in the now vacant Melbourne job.

“It’s one of those non-event things. You can put my name there but I don’t know if someone is thinking about putting some money on me, I can tell them to save their money,” Worsfold said.

“Save your money. I’ll give you a sure bet. Don’t put any money on. I haven’t thought about the Melbourne job being available. Now let’s rule myself out. Let’s do that.

“The main thing I’m clear on is not whether I’ll coach on here at the Eagles but that I’ll talk about my contract at the end of the year. That’s what I’m looking forward to. “
