Preview:

The Eagles went down by 27 points in their first AFLW hitout against Collingwood but they showed plenty of promise, especially in the first quarter.

Dana Hooker kicked the Eagles first (and only) AFLW goal and the Eagles managed to get nine inside 50’s but couldn’t capitalize.

The Eagles managed to keep the pressure on the Magpies but eventually were blown away by the more experienced Collingwood outfit, compared to West Coast playing not only their first AFLW match but fielding a team with 10 debutants.

Fremantle started their AFLW season in style with a solid 16 point win over the Cats in what was arguably the best game of Round one.

Sabreena Duffy was the star for Freo as she booted three goals in the first three quarters and kicked the goal that sealed the game for the Dockers.

Freo dominated for most of the match despite the Cats being up by two points at quarter time.

Fremantle also kicked the second-highest score of AFLW Round 2 and should be too experienced and polished  – not to mention not having to travel back from Melbourne for a West Coast side that showed plenty of promise but are probably in for a long first season.
