West Coast Eagles vs Sydney Swans 2013 AFL Round 17 preview and tips

The final game of round 17 sees West Coast host the Swans.

Over previous years, these two sides have played out some titanic matches however, in more recent times the Swans have gained the upper-hand and won the last six matches between the clubs.

It’s been in inconsistent year for the Eagles who boast a 7-8 record and sit in tenth position, two wins off eighth placed Port Adelaide.

After solid performances, albeit losing ones to Hawthorn and Essendon, the Eagles recorded a win over Adelaide before last week, in the local Derby, finding Fremantle too strong late and losing 121 – 93.

This match continues a tough month for the Eagles who will see this as their last roll of the dice if there a too keep any chance of playing in the finals this year, alive.

Sydney have only lost one of their last eight and that was a surprising defeat to Port Adelaide four matches back.

Since then the Swans have met and dealt with lowly ranked Melbourne and Sydney winning by 31 and 129 points respectively.

This will be obviously be a different kettle of fish for the Swans but one they should welcome as they’ll appreciate the opportunity to ready themselves for their run into the finals which sees them taking on Collingwood, Hawthorn and Geelong in the final four weeks of the Home and Away season.
