Preview:
The last game of the round is between the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle, kicking off on Sunday at 4.40pm at Patersons Stadium. This local derby is always an
interesting match-up, with pride on the line just as much as competition points. Fremantle will be expected to win here, but by no means is it a foregone conclusion. The
Eagles had a great six point win over the Crows last round, and at ninth on the ladder, they have everything to play for. Saying that, however, Fremantle will be just as
keen to secure a top four position, in what looks like a close contest and one of the matches of the round.

Determined Eagle Dalziell reaping reward
West Coast midfielder Bradd Dalziell was determined not to fall into the trap of fellow fringe AFL players, and his steely determination is now paying rich dividends.
Before this season started, Dalziell’s career appeared to be petering out after managing just 26 games over five seasons at the elite level.
The 26-year-old played 15 games for his original club Brisbane, before notching just 11 games over his first three seasons at the Eagles.
But rather than chuck a wobbly at his lack of opportunity, Dalziell quietly kept plugging away in WAFL ranks, where he consistently produced strong performances.
That perseverance has finally paid off, with a raft of injuries to key players this year opening the door for Dalziell to play nine of West Coast’s 14 games to date.
Dalziell’s past two games have been particularly impressive, with the 184cm running machine tallying a combined 50 possessions and three goals.
With the likes of Daniel Kerr, Luke Shuey and Sharrod Wellingham poised to return to senior ranks over the next fortnight, Dalziell knows he faces a fight to hold his position.
But he’s doing everything within his powers to keep his spot.
“Some guys can take it either way (when they get dropped),” Dalziell said ahead of Sunday’s western derby against Fremantle.
“You can come out of the side and kick up a stink about it, whereas I’ve just gone back there and focused on my football and come out the other side better.
“When you’re in and out of the side, you can drift off a bit and it can affect your football.
“I’ve been able to go back through WAFL level and play good footy. It’s put me in good stead when I have come back into the team.
“I’ve just been really enjoying it. My football at WAFL level has been really good this year.
“It’s just about getting the belief back that I can play good AFL football.”
