Weather wont affect AFL Grand Final 2013

Stormy weather predicted for Saturday’s AFL Grand Final hasn’t deterred the punters, according to leading Australian bookmaker Alan Eskander.

Scattered showers, along with isolated hail is forecast on Saturday but despite the wet weather conditions money has continued to flow for both sides.

“The weather isn’t putting punters of at all, they are still genuinely interested in placing a bet on one of the biggest days in Australia’s sporting calendar,” Betstar’s Eskander said.

“The only effect the weather is having is on the line and margin betting but apart from that there is plenty of two-way action for both sides which has been unusual.

“In the past when there has been one interstate team in the Grand Final, it’s generally one-way traffic in betting for the Victorian team. But this hasn’t been the case at all this year.

Eskander said he was surprised that the Hawks weren’t a shorter priced favourite.

“It’s staggering to think that a side like Hawthorn that has lost just three games for the entire year will be around $1.70 on match day,” Eskander said.

“Fremantle’s dominance over a wounded Sydney in the preliminary has meant the market has over-corrected itself and the as a result the Dockers are definitely under the odds at $2.32.”
