Carlton ruckman Robbie Warnock has been denied the chance to play his first AFL game of the season by an untimely hamstring injury.
It means Matthew Kreuzer has been reinstated to the squad to play Greater Western Sydney at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Kreuzer had initially been chosen to be rested, along with captain Chris Judd and key forward Jarrad Waite.
Kreuzer and Shaun Hampson’s form in the ruck and attack this season had kept Warnock out of the side, after he played 20 games last year, including the Blues’ two finals.
Warnock was named in the starting side on Thursday night, but pulled up sore on Friday after damaging his hamstring at Thursday’s training session.
Forward Andy Collins was also withdrawn from the squad, after also hurting his hamstring.
He was replaced by Matthew Watson, with the 25 to be cut to 22 later on Friday.
