Greater Western Sydney co-captain Callan Ward felt proud when his former club the Western Bulldogs broke their premiership drought but admitted he spent the off-season reliving the two sides’ classic preliminary final.

The Bulldogs eliminated the Giants in a pulsating clash on their way to collecting their first flag since 1954.

Ward, who left the Dogs for the expansion club at the end of 2011, said while he was happy to see his old teammates taste the ultimate success, he found it hard to consider what might have been for the Giants.
