Waite joins North as AFL free agent

North Melbourne have signed swingman Jarrad Waite from Carlton on a two-year deal as a free agent.

Waite – the son of two-time Carlton premiership player Vin Waite – kicked 252 goals in 184 games for the Blues.

The 31-year-old will add to the Kangaroos’ stock of key-position players.

“Jarrad stood out to us this year as a player we wanted to have at North, and we’re thrilled he has decided to commit to the club,” said North Melbourne director of football Geoff Walsh.

“With 12 years at the top level his experience will be welcomed by our emerging group, and his talent as a player is unquestionable.”

The Kangaroos enjoyed a breakout season in 2014, winning two finals before bowing out to Sydney in a preliminary final.
