Tigers star to come under AFL video review

Richmond are confident that star defender Alex Rance is not in trouble for his late spoil in the Tigers’ AFL win over Hawthorn.

Rance’s arm collected Luke Breust across the head as the Hawks forward took a mark in the last quarter of the MCG clash on Sunday.

Breust was left dazed by the blow and Jaeger O’Meara kicked the goal instead.

The incident is certain to come under video review on Monday, but Richmond coach Damien Hardwick thought the umpire had dealt with the matter.

“You’re allowed the spoil the ball – a 50m penalty was a fair assessment, for mine,” Hardwick said.

It was about the only thing Rance did wrong in another outstanding match for the Tigers key defender.

Fremantle ruckman Aaron Sandilands was booked for rough conduct after he bumped Gold Coast midfielder Jarryd Lyons off the ball in Saturday’s clash at Optus Stadium.

Sandilands was laying a shepherd and his left shoulder hit Lyons in the head.

If the star ruckman is suspended, it would be a major blow for the Dockers ahead of their match on Saturday against GWS in Canberra.

Dockers teammate Mitch Crowden also could be in trouble after he felled Aaron Hall away from the ball.

Collingwood star Steele Sidebottom was fined for his sling tackle on Zac Fisher in Friday night’s win over Carlton.
