Tigers’ Lennon earns AFL Rising Star nod

Ben Lennon’s persistence has earned him an AFL Rising Star nomination.

The Richmond forward had nine marks and 16 disposals in the wet on Saturday night against Essendon.

Lennon has played eight games this season, the last seven in a row.

He managed seven games last year in his debut season, but five of them were substitute.

Lennon was also named emergency five times and had surgery at the end of last season.

The 20-year-old was Richmond’s first pick at No.12 in the 2013 national draft.

“Ben has been working incredibly hard on his development as an AFL player over the course of nearly two years,” said Tigers coach Damien Hardwick.

“It’s his hard work and determination to improve that is seeing him play consistently at AFL level.”
