Tigers’ Knights suffers knee injury

Retiring Richmond forward Chris Knights is believed to have suffered a knee injury at training, ending any hopes of a call-up for their elimination final against the Kangaroos.

The 28-year-old announced last month he would retire at the end of the season but that may be brought forward with his latest injury.

Rumours circulated that a photograph of a player being carried from the field was Tigers skipper Trent Cotchin.

However according to AFL.com.au the club confirmed it was Knights, who has gone for scans.

Knights suffered a knee injury early in 2013, playing just his fifth game as a Tiger.

Due to problems from that as well as other injuries he’s only managed one AFL game since and was unlikely to play in Sunday’s sudden-death match.
