Both the Swans and Saints will sport a fresh set of legs on Thursday night following a well-earned bye.

Now sitting 12th, the Swans will be hoping to turn over a new leaf during the second half of the season – a spot in the eight still up for grabs following a cheap pair of wins over North and Carlton recently.

Impacting the scoreboard has been a huge problem for John Longmire’s side, but with key players like Callum Mills and Luke Parker set to return soon, there are plenty of positives to draw.

Despite their troubles through the middle, the Swans still rank third in tackles and top five in getting the ball inside 50, two key areas that will go a long way to downing the Saints this week.

Defensive mastermind Ross Lyon has plenty of work to do if St Kilda is to hold on to a spot in the eight, but as we’ve seen against the likes of Adelaide and even Hawthorn, the stingy Saints can be vulnerable against teams with a potent forward line.

The Swans have been far from electric in the forward half of the ground, but if they keep turnover to a minimum and get the ball in Tom Papley or Buddy Franklin’s hands, they could very well make it three wins on the trot.

Like their rivals, the Saints have had enormous difficulties finding points, while their pressure has also been down over the last month.

Neither side has been particularly good around the clearances, but at home off a break, the Swans look a nice value play to get their season back on track.
