Preview:
Sydney play the Brisbane Lions for the first Sunday match of Round 6, kicking off at the SCG at 1.10pm. This looks like another uneven encounter, with the Swans not only confident at home but also coming off a big ANZAC Day win against the Saints. While you would have to be brave to pick the Lions for this match, they did play well last weekend and Brent Moloney is in good form.

Lions star Simon Black nears AFL return
Brisbane coach Michael Voss says Simon Black is almost ready for an AFL return, but has held his star midfielder back an extra week after opting against unleashing him in Sydney.
Voss ran a close eye over Black at training on Thursday morning at the Gabba before delaying his senior comeback until round seven’s home clash with West Coast.
The 2002 Brownlow Medallist has impressed in two reserves games in his comeback from a knee injury and the Lions’ injury-hit midfield division is crying out for his class and experience.
But a cautious Voss was reluctant to rush the veteran back without a full match under his belt.
“He hasn’t quite done that yet,” the coach said on Thursday morning. “We know how important he is to us and we’d love to have him in our football team.
“It’s just that we’re committed to getting 15-16 quality football games out of him for the rest of the season so we just don’t want to pull the trigger on him too early.”
Black wanted to line up against the Swans at the SCG, especially with Brisbane missing on-ballers Daniel Rich (shoulder), Jared Polec (ankle) and Claye Beams (knee) and Voss admitted it was a tough call.
“But this game is pretty brutal now and you have to make sure you are absolutely fit out there (across four quarters) – you can’t afford to carry players any more.
“If he is good, then so be it but, if not, we’ll unleash him next week.”
Brisbane will regain Pearce Hanley from suspension, while Jordan Lisle, Ryan Lester and Jack Crisp were also added to the squad and Sam Docherty was dropped.
After regaining some confidence with a 28-point win over Melbourne, Voss called on his young group to absorb Sydney’s renowned pressure at the SCG.
“The thing that I’m looking forward to the most is being able to stand there and take the blows, but also return some fire,” he said.
“So I’m waiting to see what our guys can do in that area.”
