Swans to live on the edge against Hawks

Sydney Swans co-captain Kieren Jack says his team must match Hawthorn’s philosophy of playing on the edge of the rules if they want to beat a “brutally good” Hawks side on Saturday night.

The third-placed Swans host the Melbourne visitors, who sit one below them, at ANZ Stadium in one of the biggest AFL matches of the season so far.

Asked how close to the edge Sydney were prepared to go midfielder, Jack said: “As close as you can without giving away silly frees and things like that.

“They’ve come out and said they want to play on the edge and that’s fine, but we need to match that.

“If you don’t match that with Hawthorn we’ve seen the results that can happen.

“They are a brutally good side and if you are not prepared to match them in all areas you can get found out, so that’s what we’re aware of.”
