Preview:

If it wasn’t going to be hard enough for the Saints against Hawthorn this week, they have to face a Hawks side that will be seething after a below par performance last week against Richmond (107 – 66).

It was only the second time this year that a team has been able to register 100 points or more against Hawthorm and they Hawks will be out to abolish last week’s performance from their memory with a big win here.

Hawthorn has won the past two encounters against St. Kilda by margins of 30 and 35 and they have been asked to give St. Kilda 56.5 points start. Last time the defeated the Saints by a margin of the magnitude was back in round 13, 2006.

There’s not much to tell about the Saints who are facing their eleventh loss in the past twelve matches, the last six in succession.

St. Kilda has only surpassed 100 points on three occasions this year against Melbourne (104), GWS (140) and Western Bulldogs (101).

The combination of St. Kilda’s poor attack and Hawthorn’s good defence, should keep the Saint to a minimum score and the Hawks a good chance of surpassing the line.

Lions Golby to miss AFL clash with Saints

Brisbane have suffered another blow ahead of Saturday’s AFL clash with Richmond after losing skipper Jonathan Brown to a season-ending foot injury.

The Lions on Tuesday accepted a one-match ban from the match review panel for defender Mitch Golby striking St Kilda’s Tom Curren.

West Coast’s Darren Glass has accepted a reprimand for striking Gold Coast’s Dion Prestia.

Prestia himself has accepted a $1950 sanction for making reckless contact with an umpire, for pushing West Coast’s Andrew Gaff into the path of an umpire.

Geelong’s Corey Enright was fined $900 for misconduct after standing on the leg of North Melbourne’s Scott Thompson.

Enright’s teammate Josh Caddy also accepted a $900 sanction for making negligent contact with an umpire.
