The away team Adelaide Crows are the favourites for the match. View our preview and teams for the game between St Kilda Saints and Adelaide Crows.

When: 19:25 | Saturday 07/04/2018

Where: Etihad Stadium

Preview:

St Kilda were bitterly disappointing against North Melbourne with shocking skill errors and a lack of intent at the contest.
I’d expect a really physical response from the Saints especially early in the match.
It will be a hot football to win in the first quarter.
Taylor Walker slotted back in nicely on Thursday night with four goals in his return match.
He took the pressure off Josh Jenkins who had been struggling but hit form again with five goals himself.
KEY BATTLE: Jarryn Geary v Eddie Betts
Crows star Eddie Betts is out of form with only 10 goals from his last eight games and the tough Saints captain Geary will hope to keep it that way.
The Verdict
Adelaide will focus on forcing Saint Kilda into skill errors and they are the best side in the competition at scoring from turnovers.
Could be a long year for the Saints.
The Crows are 13-10 (56.5 percent) at the line playing interstate night matches since 2012.

AFL News:

Adelaide is bracing to lose All Australian onballer Matt Crouch to a hamstring injury suffered in their victory over Richmond.

Crouch, vice-captain Rory Sloane, defender Daniel Talia and utility David Mackay were all casualties in the Crows’ 36-point win on Thursday.

Crouch will have scans on his hamstring injury and is expected to miss around three weeks.

Sloane reported a minor foot injury while, Talia hyper-extended his right knee but returned to play out the game.

Mackay was concussed in an incident involving Tiger Josh Caddy certain to attract match review scrutiny.

“That is nature of the game, you’re going to have setbacks,” Crows coach Don Pyke said of the injuries.

“Given the circumstances and given the couple of injuries on the way through, their ability to really dig and get that win, and the way we won, can only be good for our group.”

Adelaide’s Josh Jenkins kicked five goals, including four in the first half, in the Crows’ 18.10 (118) to 12.10 (82) win.

Jenkins has spent the summer widely panned for his poor performance in Adelaide’s grand final loss to Richmond last summer.

“His first half in particular was outstanding and it’s great to see, it’s great reward for the work he has been doing,” Pyke said.

Pyke hailed the victory, after his club was forced to deny some players had complained about a mindfulness camp in the pre-season.

“For us, it was pretty much white noise,” Pyke said.

“But you never know from a coaching viewpoint, you don’t know how much of that infiltrates into players’ minds.

“We’re a a really proud group, our guys. They have won a lot of games of footy in the last two years and they came with some real resolve.”

Pyke expected forward Tom Lynch (virus) to press for selection against St Kilda next Saturday night while experienced midfielder Richard Douglas will return from suspension.
