Selwood accepts reprimand for shove

Geelong captain Joel Selwood has accepted a reprimand from the AFL’s match review panel for making unnecessary or unreasonable contact with an injured player.

Coach Chris Scott said the risk of a one-match ban was too great if they contested the charge.

Selwood, who collided heavily with his brother and West Coast player Adam Selwood in last Friday’s game, gave Adam an angry shove as the Eagles defender lay on the ground injured.

Port Adelaide’s Hamish Hartlett will risk a two-game ban at the tribunal on Tuesday night as he contests a charge of striking Hawthorn’s Cyril Rioli.

Hartlett could have accepted a one-match suspension.

Western Bulldog Ryan Hargrave has accepted a one-game ban for striking Richmond’s Daniel Jackson and Carlton’s Mitch Robinson and Gold Coast’s Harley Bennell have accepted fines for wrestling and making negligent contact with an umpire respectively.
