Scott Pendlebury shortens in Brownlow Medal 2013 market

Did online bookmaker sportsbet jump the gun paying out over $270,000 early on Gary Ablett to win the Brownlow?

After two lean weeks for the champ since the payout punters have begun to look elsewhere for value, with Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury the big mover over the weekend.

Although Ablett is still the clear favourite at $1.57, Pendlebury has begun to attract some attention, firming from $26 to $14.

If there is to be an upset the market suggests it could be one of Pendlebury’s teammates who ruins the party, with Dane Swan next in the market at $8.00, while Jarryd Roughead remains the only player in the top 10 to not be a midfielder at $26.

“Despite Gaz having a few quiet weeks we are still confident we got it right by paying out early, but if he could do us a favour and get kick in the last 3 weeks I would certainly sleep much better at night!” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

In Coleman Medal betting, Jarryd Roughead’s five goal haul has seen him right back in contention firming from $6.00 to $3.00, only behind Josh Kennedy at $1.90.

Hawthorn remain steady as $3.25 flag favourites, while Sydney have drifted from $3.75 to $4.25 and Fremantle have firmed from $7.00 to $5.50.

Despite Collingwood coming off a massive win, they are $2.15 outsiders in their Friday night match against the Hawks who are $1.68 favourites.

As per all matches in August, first goalscorer bets on any match in round 21 will be refunded if your selected player doesn’t score a goal at any stage of the game!
