Fremantle ruckman Aaron Sandilands has been ruled out of Friday night’s AFL clash with Carlton at Patersons Stadium due to a knee injury.
Sandilands tweaked his left knee in last week’s win over St Kilda, with the fluid then seeping into his calf and causing issues there.
The 211cm giant will be replaced in the side by Jon Griffin, who performed admirably last season when Sandilands was sidelined by turf toe.
Dockers coach Ross Lyon was confident Sandilands would be fit to resume against Gold Coast next week.
“Aaron’s one that would push himself through, but certainly he’s not right to go,” Lyon said on Thursday.
“I mean we could leave it until tomorrow and all those things, but we’ve got real confidence in Jon Griffin.
“He’ll come into the team and ruck. He’s a bona fide ruckman.
“He’s performed really well when Aaron hasn’t been in there, (rucking) with Zac Clarke as well.
“We think we’re in pretty good shape. It’s a wonderful challenge for Jon.”
