Spearhead Jack Riewoldt booted five goals as Richmond trounced Port Adelaide by 41 points on Saturday.
The Tigers emphatically broke a three-game AFL losing streak to win 18.6 (114) to 10.13 (73) at AAMI Stadium.
Richmond were never threatened after blasting Port away with eight goals to two in the opening quarter.
But the Tigers lost utility Chris Knights to what appeared to be a serious knee injury when the ex-Crow was hurt in bizarre fashion in the second term.
Knights’ right knee gave way, without any contact from another player, as he snapped a left-footed goal.
His loss, and an arm injury which forced Shane Tuck from the field in the third term, took some gloss off a polished performance from Richmond, who banked their fourth win from seven rounds.
Riewoldt’s attacking class and three goals to Jake King complemented the midfield spark of Brett Deledio, who was the dominant player on the ground and collected 32 disposals, took 10 marks and laid four tackles.
Deledio, who was brilliant as acting captain in Trent Cotchin’s absence, was superbly supported by Dustin Martin (33 possessions) while Shane Edwards and defender Brandon Ellis were also prominent.
But Richmond’s key backman Troy Chaplin, playing against his former side for the first time, faces match review panel scrutiny for his contact on ex-teammate Jay Schulz in the first quarter. Chaplin collected Schulz high as the Port player shepherded.
Schulz kicked three goals for the Power, who slipped to consecutive defeats and a 5-2 win-loss record.
Ruckman Jarrad Redden toiled hard but Port had no clear winners, though captain Travis Boak and veteran Kane Cornes were prolific ball winners.
Richmond host Melbourne next week while the Power travel to meet Carlton.
