The Tigers take on Port Adelaide in the first Sunday game of Round 17, 1.10PM at Etihad Stadium. Despite their different positions on the ladder, this could end up being quite a close encounter. The stakes are high for Port Adelaide, with three losses in their past four games as they slowly slip down the ladder. Once in first, now in third, Port Adelaide need to start winning matches if they want to stay in the top-four. In contrast, The Tigers need to regain some respect in their last seven games and put their inconsistent season into some perspective.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick spent Saturday afternoon thumping the desk in frustration as he watched his AFL side beat Brisbane by 25 points at the MCG.
Ty Vickery kicked four goals as the Tigers notched their fifth victory of the AFL season, 12.7 (79) to Brisbane’s 7.12 (54).
While the Tigers claimed consecutive wins for the first time this year, Hardwick was a frustrated man.
“I thought we were poor today,” Hardwick said.
“We over-used the ball through hands which was really disappointing.
“We didn’t play anywhere near the standard that we require.
“Some of that can be attributed to Brisbane’s pressure around the ball which was very good.
“We just constantly gave the ball to the guy who was probably in a worse position.
“We just kept getting ourselves further and further in trouble.
“We ended up having nine or 10 handball chains.”
While the Tigers led at every change, the Lions drew within one point during the third term.
At times Richmond’s over-use of handball brought the MCG crowd of 34,560 to life as the Tiger Army pleaded for someone to sink the slipper.
“I started jeering as well when we kicked the ball finally,” Hardwick said.
Asked if the Tigers had any serious injury concerns from Saturday’s game, Hardwick joked: “Sore fist from smashing it on the table a few times.”
Richmond led by 16 points at halftime and booted five goals to Brisbane’s three in the second half.
The Tigers host premiership contenders Port Adelaide at Etihad Stadium on July 13.
“We need to play a hell of a lot better,” Hardwick said.
“We just fell in a big hole late so we’ll taper our training off this week to make sure we try to freshen up.”
Trent Cotchin and Brandon Ellis were dominant for the Tigers while Alex Rance was in tremendous form in defence.
Hardwick praised Ivan Maric’s game in the ruck and said Vickery’s four-goal haul was a step in the right direction.
“He was good. I still feel he can be a lot better,” Hardwick said.
Brisbane host a night game at the Gabba against West Coast on July 12.
Lions’ coach Justin Leppitsch said second-year player Justin Clarke did a terrific job on Richmond’s two-time Coleman Medallist Jack Riewoldt who kicked two goals.
However, Brisbane’s inside-50 entries caused him plenty of concerns.
“We had our chances,” Leppitsch said.
“When two teams have the same amount of scoring shots it sometimes comes down to those little things.
“We weren’t clean. There’s some lessons learnt out of that.
“Our use of the ball was probably the big one.”
